Oprah's Book Club

Launched in 1996, Oprah's Book Club is one of the longest-running and most popular celebrity book clubs. Frequently featuring authors of color, Oprah's selections instantly become national bestsellers. Previous selections include: Becoming by Michelle Obama, The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd, and The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead.

 

Reese's Book Club

Launched in 2017, Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine is another popular celebrity book club with millions of followers. With 45 titles and counting, Reese recently expanded her book club to include new Young Adult selections. All of Reese's picks feature women at the center of the story. Previous selections include: The Guest List by Lucy Foley, Untamed by Glennon Doyle, and Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reidl.

 

 

Read with Jenna

Launched as part of the Today Show in 2019, Jenna Bush Hager's book club has a total of 24 titles and counting. Jenna tends to pick contemporary titles with compelling plots. Previous book selections include: Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi, Friends and Strangers by Courtney Sullivan, and A Burning by Megha Majumdar.

 

Good Morning America Book Club

Good Morning America Book Club selections span across genres - from sweeping historical novels to YA fantasy and books about the immigration experience. GMA hosts often feature author interviews on the television show, and also showcase guest recommendations from Glennon Doyle and others. Previous selections include: The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett, Memorial by Bryan Washington, and The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell.

 

Emma Watson's Our Shared Shelf

Emma Watson, of Harry Potter fame, started a unique book club in 2016 as part of her work as a UN Women's Goodwill Ambassador. On a bi-monthly basis, Emma chooses books with a strong feminist slant that have had a powerful or significant impact on the world. Her book club is hosted on the Goodreads platform and she invites people from all over the world to join her for discussions about each selection. Previous titles include: The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou, and Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge.

 

Belletrist by Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss

Belletrist is an online book club that is the brain child of actress Emma Roberts and best friend Karah Preiss. Both avid readers, their book club has been going strong since 2017. They feature a wide range of mostly literary selections, and also help to spotlight and raise funds for local independent bookstores. Previous selections include: Three Women by Lisa Taddeo, Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson, and Wild Game: My Mother, Her Lover, and Me by Adrienne Brodeur.
